Sherri Kimmell

Sherri has focused her career on people. She began as an attorney specializing in the unique personal dynamics that arise in employment relationships. In addition to working as a litigator and advisor to managers, Sherri worked inside both for-profit and not-for-profit corporations providing guidance and counseling to managers and executives.

She first learned of the Enneagram a decade ago and has found the tool incredibly useful in identifying her own annoying habits and charting paths to leave those habits behind. She is certified in the Enneagram and enjoys sharing this tool, along with other valuable resources, to help clients drop

what’s not helpful, find what is helpful and achieve their goals while growing as individuals and as part of a team. Sherri brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to each coaching and training relationship and revels in helping clients recognize self-imposed limits, harmful communication patterns and unconscious barriers to growth and achievement.

Sherri graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Juris Doctorate from Duke University. She serves as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and FINRA. In addition to being certified in the Enneagram, she is a member of the Georgia Bar and a certified mediator with the State of Georgia.

Mary Holmes

Mary has focused her career in the medical sciences. She began as a Medical Technologist working in hospital laboratory systems with expertise in Microbiology, Hematology and Chemistry. She specialized in Blood Banking, bringing her knowledge to community blood centers and hospital settings. Looking for a change, she then went into reproductive medicine and enjoyed the connection and ability to help patients realize their dreams of becoming parents.

Mary was introduced to the Enneagram through two dear friends who are both therapists. She was immediately intrigued and has been studying this tool

ever since. Knowing that there must be more to this ancient system than the sound bites that are all over social media, she decided to take a year long intensive class with Russ Hudson, renowned Enneagram teacher and author. This is when her knowledge really began to expand and she decided to continue her training and become a certified Enneagram instructor. Her main goal with Root Consulting is to help clients develop more self awareness with compassion for themselves and others.

Mary attended Cottey College in Missouri, and then transferred to Auburn University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. She is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as both a generalist in Medical Technology and as a Specialist in Blood Banking

Our Story

Sherri Kimmell first learned of the Enneagram in 2012 when she took an Enneagram assessment as part of an off-site group meeting, which included her now-business partner, Mary Holmes. Sherri read her results and promptly put the report and any thoughts of the Enneagram to the side, allowing herself to be consumed and controlled by a hectic schedule filled with obligation. A few years later, the Enneagram bobbed to the surface of Sherri’s consciousness and she began reading about type. Her more intense study revealed that Sherri was not a type 8 as suggested by the original test, but rather a type 1.

Mary, on a similar, but not identical path, had been learning about the Enneagram. Confident she had been typed correctly, Mary consumed information about the Enneagram and her type through books and podcasts, sharing the best with Sherri. Sherri’s interest grew as she discovered the value of the Enneagram in navigating her relationships with her teenage children. Similarly, Mary found the Enneagram extremely helpful in understanding her relationships with family and friends.

Mary invited Sherri to join her at a two-day, in-person Enneagram workshop being conducted by a popular podcast host. The workshop further fueled Mary and Sherri’s interest. Eventually, Mary and Sherri committed to take a year-long, intensive Enneagram course with Russ Hudson, a co-author of the widely sold Wisdom of the Enneagram and founder of the Enneagram Institute. The course delivered far more than expected. At the conclusion, Mary and Sherri realized how much they had learned and how useful the Enneagram can be as a tool for development and growth.

Root Consulting was born out of Mary and Sherri’s interest in the Enneagram and belief in the power of the tool to change individual and collective experience. They are thankful for the experiences that have led them to this business and the opportunity to share what they have learned to empower others, professionally and personally.
